As a kid, my dream job ranged from being an inventor to a firefighter.
I chose the right career in crafting ideas and putting out the mini-fires that occasionally arise. I fell in love with mass communication at an incredibly young age. Television was an escape from the world's sleepy reality for me and my older sister.
Whatever she watched, I watched.
After-school talk shows, Sunday morning syndicated sitcoms, and the latest reality TV squabble spiced up our ordinary week. Stories all around shaped my early understanding of the world for better or worse.
In university and during the COVID-19 pandemic, I found a new attraction in advertising.
We witnessed how disinformation can burrow its way into the well-being of individuals and their communities. Advertising is the economic backbone of all forms of mass communication, and because of that, it has a great social responsibility to its audiences.
Oh, and of course, it must be engaging.
After college, I joined an award-winning agency, where I met talented creatives and made some of my closest friends. It taught me the importance of having fun with the work you do. That doesn’t mean the work is always fun. However, if you deliver work begrudgingly, it's likely to get the same resentful eye roll in a world flooded with copycats sharing the same attention-grabbing goal.
So, if you like weird, be weird with it!
Copywriting and social content creation give me the somewhat deranged honor of swapping my eyes with others to communicate messages they’d only understand.
Now that you know I have brown eyes, if they’re ever different, it means I’m crafting my next idea.
